Move In Day

Hello everyone, friends, family, GMP people, Residence people, Ryerson people, anyone I'm forgetting:

Thanks for taking the time to check out this blog. I'm going to try and update it as often as I can to let you connect to what it is I'm up to during my time in Vancouver.

Yesterday was my arriving flight and move in day. The place is nice, clean and will do just fine. I'll post some pictures once I get a chance. The flight was fine, and arrived early to boot. I had the chance to walk around the neighbourhood and really like the surroundings. The stadium itself is impressive just to walk around, it's a gem and I can't wait to see it full of fans.

Some observations in my first 24 hours here:

-I'm trying not to just stop walking and stare at the mountains but it's quite something to behold given my experience with elevated terrain is a 50 meter tall Rattlesnake Point and not a several thousand foot tall mountain. Feels like i'm in Lord of the Rings. Better go slay some orcs.
-The area I live in (Main St South) is the mirror image of College Street, maybe Bloor but that kind of store front laden street which is welcoming.
-The weather has also been just about similar to Toronto.
-The hangover of the Olympics is fairly obvious in this area...lotsa fading bumper stickers, storefront flags, that kind of thing. I think the hockey team here is helping them out with their sports fix.
-I need to duck just a bit to enter my bathroom threshold. I need to duck a lot to take a shower.
-Every five or so minutes, a group of people wearing crossing guard vests parades down the street on bicycles with the leader shouting instructions. Odd.
-Next to Nat Bailey Stadium (where I will be working starting Monday) is Canada's first (and assumably oldest) little league with its main diamond in the shadow of the Canadians home field. So close to give any 12 year old enough motivation to work hard and make baseball their living.
